Frequently asked questions - Wedding

Do I have to book Video & Photo together?
Absolutely not! We offer combination packages that include both video and photo, but by no means are you required to use us for both.

How soon should I hire my videographer?
Depending on the month that you are getting married in, you should typically hire your videographer about 8-14 months before your wedding date. If you aren’t having a long engagement, your date might still be available. The earlier you can reserve your date, the better chance you’ll be sure to have us be there!

How many videographers will be present at my wedding?
Most of our packages include 2 shooters. We like to have the ability to be in 2 places at one time. Not to mention, we can film both of you as you are getting ready, get multiple angles of all the big moments, etc.

How long will it take to receive my finished wedding film?
Depending on the time of the year it can take anywhere from 2 to 4 months to receive your wedding film. In 2022, we averaged around 4 - 9 weeks.

Does Authentic Visuals Productions LLC carry insurance, and are you licensed as a business?
Yes! Simply put, we are covered. Always ask your vendors if they carry insurance, and if they are licensed to be doing work in the state.

Can we meet and talk about my ideas for my wedding film?
Absolutely! We want to meet with you and get to know you! It helps us, and even makes our job easier when we can sit down and get to know our couples and really listen to how they envision their big day! It’s our job to tell the story, so the more we can learn about you, the better!

Do you have recommendations for other great wedding professionals?
Of course we do! We have had the privilege to get to know several wedding professionals. We only recommend the vendors we can trust.

How much can I expect to invest in my wedding film?
Cinematography Collections begin at $1500, locally.

How long have you been filming?
The 2018 season is our 1st official wedding season. We have shot well over 100 projects at this point. We can’t believe how fast the time has flown by, and how many amazing couples and business owners we have had the honor of working with over the years!

How would you describe your style — more documentary, cinematic or a mix of both?
Our editing and shooting style is more of a cinematic type of storytelling. We don’t necessarily always edit in chronological order. We listen and look for key moments or elements that happened on your big day to emphasize in your film. This could include moments such as the officiants message during the ceremony or speeches at the reception.

What input do you want from us, and what do you prefer to have final say on?
Because what we do is extremely artistic and unique, we prefer not to be put into a box when it comes to the creativity of your wedding film. In our consultations we will do our best to figure out exactly what you want for your wedding film. We ask for the creative freedom to shoot and edit the film how we see necessary. Nothing makes our job harder than you giving us a list of 100 things that “must be filmed.” We do want to know anything out of the ordinary that you want to make sure is on film (a grandma, a special piece of decor, etc)

Do we get to choose the music?
The vast majority of wedding videographers illegally use music that is not licensed to be put into their films. We have access to a music licensing company that we can use to purchase licenses on songs. We try to find songs that fit the vibe and flow of the wedding. If there is a song your really want, we can see if it is something that we can license.

How do we pick out a package?
If you inquire about your big day, we will send you a brochure with our packages and add on items. From there you will select what you feel is necessary for your special day. If you feel like your not quite sure what is necessary we would love to talk to you about the details of the wedding so that we can recommend the best package that fits your needs.

What if I don’t like certain parts of my film?
This is always a sticky subject. At the end of the day we want you to be happy. But if we don’t have a policy in place, sometimes things can get out of hand with moms, mother-in-law, and family watching the film and wanting changes. After we deliver your film, we give you 1 week to proof the film and give us a green light. If you have any basic changes (add a shot of grandma, remove a shot of your brother’s ex girlfriend, etc.) we make one round of changes at no charge, at up to 1 hour of editing time. Any extensive edits (audio changes, timeline changes, etc.) are billed at an hourly rate set at the time of the changes. You are hiring us to be the professionals, and we take that very seriously. We know you are trusting our judgement to make the best film possible, with all of the context we have. We have seen all of the footage, we have listened to all of the speeches, and are going to put together the most flattering video possible.
